Have you ever wondered: what is ACTUALLY the correct Pin size for Pinterest? I have had so many people ask me if they should Pin from Instagram, create infographics or square Pins. The truth of the matter is, Pinterest still recommends using a 2:3 ratio for your Pin.
What is the correct Pin size?
According to Pinterest creative best practices, a Pin that is 1000 x 1500 pixels is still the winner! While you can create Pins of varying sizes, the 2:3 traditional Pins tend to perform the best. If you are tempted to Pin from Instagram or another platform, think again.
Instead, use Canva to resize your post for Pinterest. It should only take a few seconds to add or adjust your text overlays and branding elements. Here is an example of what I did to create an Instagram post and Pinterest Pin without compromising my personal brand:
Can I Pin from Instagram?
No matter how many times you hear someone say that you can, it doesn’t mean you should. It does cut a lot of corners and can hurt your overall Pinterest performance. There are certain niches where this might be appropriate. Fashion, home decor and photography Pins tend to speak for themselves.

What About Infographics?
Here’s the deal, infographics are a thing of the past. Even though they are still circulating Pinterest, they do not perform the way they used to. First off, they are too long and get cropped in the feed. Pinterest likes to create a flawless look on their feed by keeping all Pins uniform.
Secondly, infographics tend to have a ton of text, making it hard to read. You will also lose your audience! A simple, easy to read text overlay is much better than a ton of text. Trust me!

Thankfully, Canva and other design tools have Pinterest Pin templates that are exactly this size. This makes it super easy to create Pins. The same goes for video and Story Pins. Although Story Pins are a little longer, you can resize them on Pinterest when uploading your Story Pin. I am sure it is only a matter of time before Canva offers Story Pin templates too!
