You’ve decided to invest in Pinterest – great! I love Pinterest for so many reasons – content can live so much longer than on other platforms and it is a great way to drive traffic. Pinterest is also an incredibly positive and inclusive place to be. It truly is a very happy place on the web which sometimes can be hard to find. And who doesn’t want their content associated with happiness?! Ready to start your Pinterest business account? Here are the top 5 things to know as you’re starting your Pinterest page.
How to Start Your Pinterest Page
You may have a lot of questions when you start up your Pinterest page. Thankfully, Pinterest creates content just to help you out with that. They put together this awesome blog article “How To Build Your Audience on Pinterest” that I love, and wanted to share some highlights from it below with you. Here are five things to remember when building your Pinterest page.
- Create Fresh Content Weekly
Being consistent with your content is key, and Pinterest recommends posting at least once a week. Posting frequently is truly the best way for you to get more eyes on your Pins. You want to both engage with your current audience and also reach new people with your content.
- Use Trends to Inform Your Strategy
Using data to inform your Pinterest strategy is so important! Pinterest is awesome in that they provide so much information to you. I have a blog post about their yearly Pinterest Predicts report that you can review so you can see what they expect to be trending this year. They also have this trends tool where you can type in a keyword and see how many people have been searching for it. This can be really helpful when you are trying to decide where to focus your Pinterest content.
- Add Text Overlay to Your Pins
SEO is so important, and adding text overlay on your Idea Pins is exactly that. The text overlay that you choose will affect how they show up when people search those terms on Pinterest. This is another fantastic way that you can use the trends tool to help you inform your content and copy choices.
- Topic Tag Idea Pins Before You Publish
Once you create your Idea pin, you may be tempted to just hit publish and be done with it. Don’t do this! Try to remember to add applicable tags to all of your Idea Pins. This is another easy way for people to find your content based on the tags you assign to your Idea Pin.
- Fill In All Your Board Details
All of your Pins are always saved to different boards when you pin them. When you are building your different boards, always be sure to fill out all applicable information like board names and descriptions. This will ensure that your content has a better chance of showing up in Pinterest search results. It takes some extra effort but it is definitely worth it.
